Engage ICONS

Engage Pupil Daybook & Other Icons

Those tiny icons beside each student in the Student Grid inside your attendance and in the "Pupil Grid" in Engage are, in fact very important and could literally save a life. Below are images of the icons and what they mean.

Icon Structure

In "My Students/Pupils" on the Engage Staff Portal, you will notice a series of icons against the student. These are beside the child's name in the main grid.

Absence or Late Verification

A Red Square means that parents have used the 'Justify Late/Absence Daybook form. This is like receiving a phone call or email from a parent, except the redbox will appear beside the students name for a day. The red square with a tick, is the 'temporary marker' that shows admin staff have gone in and enter the times the student checked in. Note: If it is for one day or a late, put the "Out time as the end of the school day.

Extended Leave/Exception

A Green Square with the L means that this student has applied or been approved for Leave Exception (up to 5 days). The Plain Green Square indicates the this student has applied for or been approved for Extended Leave (over 5 days) the leave details appear when you hover on the icon or open the student's daybook entry.

EpiPen Icon (Anaphylaxis Plan)

This is little epipen beside a student's name in the pupil grid in Engage means that they have Anaphylaxis a life threatening allergy of some kind. It may be nuts, bee stings or anything. If you click on the icon, this will take you to a daybook in Engage that has a copy of each student's individual Anaphylaxis plan.

Cross/Exclamation Icon (Epilepsy Plan)

A medical cross with an exclamation point in it, means this student has epilepsy or is prone to seizures. If you click on this icon or search the daybook, Inside the entry you will find a plan or any notes.

Puffer icon (Asthma Plan)

A Ventolin Puffer indicates this student has Asthma. If you click on this icon or search the daybook you can find that students individualised Asthma plan. Click on the icon or search the daybook and the entry will contain the plan for this child.

Insulin icon (Diabetes Plan)

An Insulin Icon indicates this student has Diabetes. If you click on this icon or search the daybook you can find that students individualised Diabetic plan. Click on the icon or search the daybook and the entry will contain the plan for this child.

Pastoral Notes

The eye indicates a recent Pastoral Note has been raised against the student. The mortarboard (hat) indicates there is an academic component to this note and is a temporary Marker.

*This is Currently Ony Used By Redfield College. This feature may become available to the other schools pending individual school's needs and processes.

BEHAVIOUR ACTIONS

The Open Door Icon indicates, that a student has Behaviour Actions Against them. This may be a Detention, Blue Book or needs to respond to an incident involving an Action or Behaviour or Issue with a Student's behaviour. If you hover on the icon, in the student grid, it will provide staff with the details.

No/Camera Icon

A NO Camera Icon means that this student does not haver parental permission to have their photo taken by school representatives and may not appear in published material or otherwise.

The default is no icon.

Parent Icon

The Parent Icon indicates, a custody or care alert is present in a child's profile. That student is likely to have custody issues. This may include court orders or mean the child has care authority notes against them. This is particularly important when releasing a child to a rarely seen parent. It may also specify an alternative family arrangement. For example, a child living with their grandparents as sole carers whose parent/s are overseas or not living with the child.

Yellow Shield Icon

The Parent Icon indicates this child has a "Child Protection" Issue. This may include court orders or mean the child has care authority or well being issue related to family. This means that staff need to be aware, they could be in a potentially dangerous family situation or a carer or former carer has legal proceedings pending are related to the student's care. Notes will be in the 'Client' side of Engage.

Medical Bag

This Indicates that this Student has important medical data against them. To view these conditions staff must go into the child's details and go to "Medical Details" under "View Details" to see information like ailments and whether or not a child can or cannot be given certain medicines including paracetamol, ibuprofen or certain prescribed medications.

Birthday Cake

This Indicates that this Student has a birthday on the day the icon is seen. The icon will only appear on the student grid on the day of their birthday

Student "S Icon"

This Indicates that this Student has is currently working with Learning Support within the School. This indicates that the student will have an IEP, Special Provisions . It is important to refer to their "Pastoral Notes" Daybook for recent actions and relevant information

Student "S Icon"

Leaver "Red Door Icon"

This Indicates that this Student has completed the Student Leaver Daybook and are members of the Year 12 Cohort, graduating the current year.
