Backup Instruction

Please follow the sections below to ensure your files are syncing/backed up

Check Your Internet Connection:

·       If syncing isn’t working, there may be an issue with your internet connection.

·       Please check your internet connection to ensure its stable and working properly by browsing to a website using Google Chrome and ensuring it loads correctly.

1.  Check OneDrive

2.  Check Google Drive

3.  Check the Downloads folder for important files

1. Check OneDrive

OneDrive Auto Backup automatically backs up all your files (Desktop, Documents & Pictures) from your laptop to your cloud OneDrive in the background while you are working. This means your files are easily accessible from another device if your primary device is lost, stolen, damaged, or you need to move over to a new device.

Here are the steps to setup or check what is in place

1.  Click the OneDrive icon in the taskbar (or click the up arrow to locate it).

2.  The top of the expanded menu should say  “Your files are synced” - as pictured below

2. Check Google Drive

Check the Google Drive Icon:

·       Look at the bottom right-hand side of your screen in the System Tray for the up arrow (as pictured below) then click it to expand the System Tray.

·       In the list of icons that appear, look for the Google Drive icon. If it is coloured, everything is connected and syncing is working.

If the Icon is Greyed Out (ie. not coloured):

·       Click on the Google Drive icon.

·       Open the menu by clicking on the three vertical dots (or similar option).

·       Click the gear icon (Settings).

·       Select "Resume Syncing" to restart the sync process.

3. Check the Downloads folder for important files

The Downloads folder is not automatically backed up, so if you want to keep these files they will need to be manually copied over to either OneDrive or Google Drive folders.

Step 1: Find Your Downloaded Files

Open File Explorer.

On the left sidebar, click Downloads under Quick Access.

Step 2: copy Files to your cloud drive (ie. OneDrive or Google Drive)

·       Open File Explorer (Windows) and check your contents in Downloads

·       If there are any important contents, please copy them over to either your OneDrive or Google Drive
